Horizontal Lines – Panama Canal
Photos are of the landscape of man-made lines on the banks
as we crossed the inside passage of the Panama Canal.
As the shipped slowly traveled, the sun peaked in and out.
The day started off very overcast with a rainy mist.

So interesting to see man-made banks along the canal. They actually look like a part of nature, pretty seamless at blending in. Hopefully it was a good walk in the rainy mist. Looks peaceful π

The cruise through the Panama Canal is very interesting. There’s a lot of history talked about before passing through the canal. We didn’t walk on these mounds. These are on both sides of the ship as you cruise through. It goes very, very slowly. It takes hours. To complete the passage takes two days. If I remember correctly the mounds are made to prevent dirt erosion into the water. It’s always raining in Panama. It’s a tropical rainforest. The ship provides huge umbrellas for viewing on deck if you choose to. We had a balcony room so we watched from there. It much more comfortable. The landscape is lush and green because of the constant rain. it’s a wonderful experience to see at least once. I’m glad you enjoyed these photos, Mabel. Thank you for leaving your comment.

So interesting to hear more about the purpose of the mounds, Isadora. Sounded like a lush rainforest indeed and a lovely ride along the canal, and a very comfortable one too π
