Summer Estate

On a recent Dixieland jazz cruise down Sarasota Bay, I had the opportunity to snap a few of the summer estates.

This one was quite grand. I modified the photo to sepia in order to fit the challenge.

  1. Can you imagine living there,Izzy? I think if I could afford that beautiful estate, I’d have to build it overlooking a lake on a mountain somewhere, though … like some of the shores of shown in your lovely video (about 1/2 through). 🙂

    • No, I really can’t imagine living in a place like that. There would be too many echoes, too many rooms, too many things to clean, well – I could go on. The nicest thing would be an afternoon on the veranda sipping a mint julep or some such beverage while enjoying the view. I’m a water person. I tried the mountains as vacation spots – I even skied – but water was calling me. 😃

      • Mountain lakes hold water, Izzy. My beef with living in such a huge (no matter how immaculate) home as ‘your’ waterfront estate would be in paying the utility bills… can you imagine? I guess when you have that much money, bills don’t matter. … to be honest, I wouldn’t know. LOL. 🙂

          • I like cozy better, too, but even so my heart does love those wide open spaces surrounding a ‘comfortable, practical home. A home of that (shown in your post) magnitude though should have ‘land’ around it … in my opinion.

    • I converted the photo to sepia for the challenge but the sky was a magnificent blue color. The home is incedible. The architecture begged for a photo opportunity. I can’t imagine how may rooms it has. 😊
The jazz cruise was put together by the Srarsota Jazz society. I’m not a member but you don’t have to be to go to their festivities. The band was terrififc. 😀
