Weekly Photo Challenge – Angular Sculpture

Abstract Angles                                      2014©photography by Isadora

“A sculpture is just a painting cut out and stood up somewhere.”
François de la Rochefoucauld quotes ~

Visiting Albany, New York in May, I came across this striking metal sculpture.

Most noticeable were the obvious lines and angles which created an impressive

impact against the linear building just behind it.

Xiao Yu asks, “What does angular mean to you?”

It might mean the corner on which you live or the intersection of sea and sky at a 180 degree angle.

Angular also offers a chance to shoot from an entirely new perspective:

from above, below, or even from the margins of the fray. Above all, have fun!

    • I don’t believe it’s a Calder. There wasn’t a plaque at the site of where I had captured the photo. There were a group of govenment buildings in this location – Albany, New York. This was in front of one of those buildings. It may have been a sculptor who was inspired by Calder as many artists are.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thought provoking comment. I apprecaite it. Come back and visit real soon. 😊

  1. I have been reading/seeing all the different angular submissions. It is interesting how I have changed my way of looking at the world because of the narratives of the photographers. As I drive around the town this week I will be looking for angles. lol

    • I’m always looking at art or seeking artistic environments. We were at an art museum while visiting Albany and came across this beautiful structures on our way to an eatery. Yes, our eyes see what we train them to see. As an artist, I have trained my eyes to see artistic elements in everything. Keep on looking, Ladysighs, there’s a lot more you may have missed. Thanks for popping in and leaving your very nice comment. 😊
