Camera Flashes before my Eyes
The cameras are flashing photos at lightning speed. These are the moments you hope for. Becoming the star of a movie that isn’t filmed. It’s just a lot of regular, ordinary people snapping shots of me doing my artwork. They want to be able to tell their friends all about their day. The photos help them brag about what they missed.
How I wish a big name gallery owner would be behind one of those lenses. He could snap photos of my artwork to show at his next board meeting. Then, I would get the call to fly to his gallery to create a one-woman private show.
I’ve always enjoyed painting in bright colors. I thought it would really set me apart from the traditional artists so I could be discovered.
When will my moment come along?
Art – it’s the struggle to make it.
Art – it’s the fame just out of reach.
Art – it’s the passion we can’t reach but can’t let go of either.
It’s tough artwork creating on hot asphalt and concrete. It’s backbreaking and voluntary too. It’s for a charitable cause; to maintain the arts in high school.
We do it no matter what.
The insatiable need to create.
