Weekly Photo Challenge – Up

DSC_0154 (1024x681)

There’s a hole in my roof but I don’t care. It’s time to enjoy a cold one.I believe this is a wide mouth Bass.

This roof is thatched with reed. It is the roof from an outdoor bar at the Nav-A- Gator restaurant. I had posted some photos of this upbeat Old Florida Restaurant and Bar. They have a lot to offer. As you will see by the sign I posted below. If you like to canoe into undisturbed places that reflect natures’ beauty, this is the place to visit. The food is fantastic and generous in their portions. On many occasions there is a local band strumming out toe tapping tunes. It’s located in Southwest Florida in a town called Arcadia.

Outdoor Bars for a quick libation before you’re boat ride.

This is a snook that has been mounted on a wood background ….

Yuengling sign …

Uuengling sign … again

Yuengling seems to be the beer of choice. I am not a beer drinker so I couldn’t say why.

Sign put up at the indoor bar area – Warning the consumption of alcohol may make you believe you can outsmart the Bartender …. note the real alligator and fish

Never a dull moment while looking up I noticed this sign – Topless Hooker 5:00 – this is not happening. It’s simply for entertainment purposes while you’re looking up at everything.

Quite a funky guitar … there are so many things on the ceiling to look up to

    • Oh, I got a few kinks in my neck while there. It is fun to keep discovering another fun item to point out to whoever you are with. I take people who are visiting me from places where they haven’t seen Florida the way it used to be. There is no fanciness … just a pair of jeans, a tank top and a smile. Just what you want when your on vacation.
No fuss … !!! The food is Southern style and all homemade as you order. It takes time because of that. It’s what gave them the idea to start putting things all around for you to look at while you waited. Clever … Glad you enoyed it.

  2. I could just see the two of us staring up at the roof all day and night long Issy…having drinks and talking about all these interesting stuff they have there. I bet if those things could talk, we’d hear lots of stories. 🙂 Great photo’s and post hon. Thanks for sharing. 🙂 *big hugs*

    • We could stare at the ceiling for hours. They have 3 rooms plus the outdoor area. I did get a kink in my neck from time to time. The owners have been passing the place down from generation to generation. They are true Southern hillbillies. Well, with a little Northern upbringing, now, for the youngins’. There’s lots of southern home style cooking … fried chicken, sweet potato fries, sweet ice tea … yup – lots of fried food. It’s madatory for southern style cooking. It’s a real fiendly place. Everyone talks to everyone. All you need is a smile. ~~~~ : – )

    • It is a place to hang out and have a fun time. I take guests who are visiting with me. It gives them an idea of what OLD Florida was like before tourism. The food is Southern style – ie: fird chicken, grits, sweet potato fries and green fried tomatoes – YES … lots of fried food. Southern cooking seems to warrant that. Glad you enjoyed a little bit of Old Florida. ~~~~ : – )

    • hahaha … you wouldn’t want to be there if it rained at all … very rustic and muddy once the rain starts to fall.
BUT … a fun place to take guests who come to visit when on vacation. It’s minus the tourism and good down home fun.

    • hahaha … you could say it’s a sun roof. That is so funny, Lorna. It’s a laid back place … similar to where you would go if you’re a camper – which I am not – so it’s the closest thing without sleeping on the ground. No fancy duds to wear here … jeans, a tank top and a smile. ~~~~ : – )
